This hurts me. A lot. I mean, I already have a LOT of feelings about Myth!Loki and the Aztec god Tezcatlipoca (They seem like they’d get along swimmingly, aside from Tezca thinking that Loki is too irreverent and really should expand into war-god aspects, and Loki thinking Tezca should chillax some on astringent religious observance. They could bond over punking their brothers and how much it sucks when their bros beat them with sticks/hammers.)
But YES. Oh man, this would be so perfect on so many levels. There’s the idea of creation and destruction cycles associated with both the 5 suns and Ragnarok that not only share a nice idea of cyclical time, BUT that in the marvel context just…. god, there’s so much you could do with that. I mean, if you WERE to go with the idea that the ending of the calendar meant that 5th/Earth Sun would end (instead of what actually happens -  the first few decimal places rolling over and the calendar continuing on the more esoteric and larger ‘bundles’ of time that no one pays much attention to)-  well, its kinda perfect in a universe were events that are grand disasters happen every few years. Having 5th sun ACTUALLY END would be pretty fun, and in keeping with Kid Loki’s luck at these sorts of things. Then making some terrible deal with someone like Surtur or pheonix or some such to make a new sun and start a new age. (And possibly also figure out how to turn all the humans back into humans, since transformation of the men of that age into something that can survive the end of an age is a pretty constant theme. More likely than not, with Kid Loki’s luck, I can see him being the one that TRICKED someone into changing all humanity into moles or flying insects so they could survive the end of earth sun or something… and ‘pretty sure’ he’d know how to change them back once things literally settled down)
The story of the ball game is all about rebirth, the life (corn) that comes from death.  I keep coming back to the aztec stuff, because I can’t help myself (also, omg, I want some Nighogg vs. the Hungry Woman. Ever-consuming earth monster battle please~), but there’s just so much potential for how fun Loki could have with the ball game, then coming to a realization about how the sacrifice is something necessary for creation, but not the ONLY thing required for creation. (Again, I love myth of earth sun - even when the entire pantheon sacrificed themselves to make the sun move across the sky, Quetzalcoatl the feathered serpent  still had to blow holy winds/breath.) Given the appearance of the feathered serpent  cult in the late maya period, and the Aztec Quetzalcoatl being an advocate for alternative/non human sacrifice, I could see him playing a role in resolution.  (Though I know if I were the one writing things, I’d have to resist having Tezca taking the guise of this almost-twin-one-pantheon-removed trying to pull a king-maker scheme at the end there without anyone being the wiser. Like I said - he and Loki seem like they’d get along. And he and Lady Loki would probably get along like a house on fire. He is a sly er, coyote, with the ladies.)
For anyone interested in the myth of the 5 suns (and Tezca stories), this is what I usually point people to as a simple-enough beginners book. The Hungry Woman
And here’s an easier to read version of the Aztec creation myths, with an explanation of the Sun Stone. The Eagle on the Cactus
And then if you get super into it, here’s the creation and sun chapters from Encyclopedia Maya Azteca (I tend to cut and paste to focus on Tezca tho’. I’m a stan, I know.)
